Links to 300+ Free Modules/Adventures (DF and Others)

Post by Landifarne »

Here is a list of links to free modules/adventures posted online (Dragonsfoot and other sites). Much of the list comes from Gnarly Bones' sticky, and I have gleaned what I can from the threads herein. It is by no means complete, and is meant to help members of DF find adventure resources. If certain gaming platforms are off limits, then I will remove their links as soon as I receive notification.

Please post new links and/or suggestions so that I may update this thread. -Landifarne

Even though I have most of these, this thread would be a great one to sticky, wait hold you rotten fruit, or a merger with GBs list of DF modules.

Thanks for putting this together.

Good stuff. I am not empowered to "sticky" threads myself, but it does seem like a candidate.
It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between.

Most excellent! I updated the list.

I am impressed by both the level of quality of your work, and how extensive each module is.

Folks, if you're looking for some BASIC, LL, or similar system old-school modules...JD's are right up your alley!

I found on google printed and ran that one called An Abandoned Fortress. It only lasted one session was good for an enterance to a larger dungeon beneath it. Now I'm going to stick the "tomb of horrors" in the very bottom level the only changes made are the false entrances.

Re: Links to Free Modules/Adventures (DF and Others)

Saw the post looking for a ruined castle adventure, and it reminded me that someone had posted links to the adventures from the 77 and 83 basic sets. The downloads are straight from wizards web site.

Thanks, darkgrey! With the Caves of Chaos adventures recently posted our classic players now have a number of great dungeons to choose from.

I'm actually surprised that WOC is putting these out for downloading.

Well Landifarne I just happened to think of them now. I think the links were on Zenopus77's blog, and he mentioned them in a thread in the classic forum. I had stumbled across his mention at some point, and down loaded them. I don't think wizard's put them up recently, so it may be something they put up at one point, and have since forgotten about. If you want to know more about it you could check Zenopus77's blog.

I may try to post an adventure connecting them at some point. The dungeon fromm the 77 basic set could work well as part of the third level of Gygar's castle. Change the mage to Bargle, and convert the sea cave to the young red dragon's lair.

should first do other things like castle of dungeon and adventure for daughter

Uhmm yeah after I do some other things. If I don't get sidetracked.

again

Some DF regulars recommended Dungeon of Signs Blogspot's adventures: http://dungeonofsigns.blogspot.com/p/pd ... nload.html

They are certainly cool. For LL (but easily converted), the first three are more traditional adventures (first one is a full adventure, the second and third are 1-2 pages each).

The last three are gonzo, anomalous subsurface environment pieces. Well worth downloading!

Updated!

Thank you, Ironface, for the link to Adrian Stone's and Nick Whelan's fine adventure. It is excellent, folks!

I wish that I had such artistic talent!

I see that Bob Pennington has put his professionally-published module The Tomb of Rokoss the Undying (levels 4-6) up on DF. Kudos! I've updated the list to include it. [Warning: I would have to say that it is a bit reward-heavy!]

(Two in two days. Keep 'em coming folks!)

Weird Opera has published a free module called Three Sad Wizards. This is suitable for classic and 1E type games and is free in PDF format: http://www.mediafire.com/download/hqdwq ... izards.pdf

It reminds me a lot of the Beer and Pretzels stuff. Enjoy!

I have a campaign adventure I have been running for over 20 years. Writing it out as a series of modules would be tough (though I am writing a novel based on it) but might be a good exercise in translating things from my head to paper...or computer.

It'd be interesting to see.
And if you wanted to publish free through DF (or through & Magazine see my sig below) you have a well-oiled publishing machine, from proofers to editors to cartographers to layout guys. :)
It's easier when you don't have to do that grunt work alone. And I love seeing folks adventures that they poured heart and soul into. Twenty years of love put into something - its definitely something I want to see.

Over on the K&KA site Piper gave me the heads up on a Classic (OD&D) adventure that I was not aware of called KH-1 Something's Rotten in Riverton. Thanks Piper! The list has been updated.
