Nope. As I understand it, perfect bound is softcover with an outer cover that wraps around the pages, but forms a flat spine, without visible staples or stiching. Things like the "Complete X Handbook" series for 2e AD&D are perfect bound.Hywaywolf wrote: Is the perfect bound a hardcover

Okay, for anyone who cares (Hiwaywolf?), I've posted a cover document and PDF for the front and back covers of the core rules. It's on the downloads page:

[threadjack]oooookay, I know that many of the fancy pants around here change your avatars more often than your underwear, but too far is too far. You've crossed a line inside me somewhere, galstaff, and now I'm upset!
How is one supposed to keep up with which one's DMPrata, and which one galstaff? I swear, if galstaff starts quoting the btb rules like the bible, I don't know what I'll do.[/threadjack]
Sorry. I had to let that out. I'm (*sniff*) better now. I'll be okay. Really.

Solomoriah, I forget where it is you live, but it is in the US right. Midwest somewhere. I don't know why its taking so long. On a brighter note, my daughter had an another BFRPG session this weekend at another girls house and DMed the entire session on her own. I am told she did well, but that she was nicer than me, maybe a little too nice. I got to toughen her up so she can make those PC work for their loot.
Galstaff, my book is called Alter Rock. Its about a boy who grows up in small town USA thinking he is just like every other kid. In reality, his "uncle" has been secretly hunting down the dark wizards that are searching for the heir to a kingdom (on another planet) conquered 12 years earlier by an evil lord. On his 13th birthday the boy starts coming into his powers and begins making headlines. This attracts the last of the wizards resulting in a battle in the midst of a strange hurricane that sends the boy back to the world of his birth.
Now he finds himself in a conquered land, friendless and mistaken for a lackey of the evil overlord that keeps the people under his thumb. He has to play the part of the enemy in order to stay alive long enough to learn what he is and how he can get back to earth. To make a long story short, he has to fight his way, gaining the trust of the locals to the mystical Alter Rock where he has to make the choice between saving a kingdom that he can never leave again or returning home at the risk of losing his soul.
I wrote it a few years back to entertain my daughter, but when we found out about Lulu.com (through Solomoriah) we decided to self publish it. Funny thing is that i kept my Basic/expert rulebook by my side the entire time I was writing it. I used ship and people movement rates for traveling and took from teh monster list. I wish I had added elves and such, but I didn't. maybe in the sequel

Overall I'm happy with it. The coils get into the cover crenellations a bit, but I had expected that. I do wish they'd bend the ends of the coil over a bit more sharply.Birthright wrote:What were your impressions of the coil bound copy, Solo?
Printing quality is excellent. I can see a few very small things I'll change in the next edition, but nothing worth the work of revising it right now.
I'm waiting for P&P to give me a little guidance before I release the hardback.

I just saw your post. there is another subforum for roll playing games just 2 subforums below the sf/fantasy one. http://www.lulu.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=25
Once you get the hardcover up, I am going to buy a hardcover and at least 2 perfect bound paperbacks (unless you can convince me the coil is better). The shipping will be cheaper if I wait. How long do you think it will be? I suppose I could have her ask her friends if they want one to save even more.
I ordered 30 of my paperback novels and was notified that they were shipped tonight. I am using USPS media mail so it will be interesting to find out how long it takes to get here. If I order 1 BFRPG paperback it will cost me a total of $14.23. If I use media mail it will be $10.73. If I order 3 it will be $11.26 and $9.38, respectively.

Good luck on the novel, I have read a little of it, but not enough yet.
