A werehuahua is truly cursed for they are loved and reviled simultaneously. But, it is not their fault - werehuahua are unable to control their actions, both in their ordinary form as mundane, albeit adorable puppies, or their, seemingly preferred, vicious gnoll-like shape, due to countless years of mistreatment, abuse, and inbreeding.
They are natural shapechangers but, unlike others of their kind, are unable to manipulate the ability: sometimes, the werehuahua will simply smell something, or take an inoffensive action as one of aggression, and snap, instantly transforming; there is no pattern or reason, and if there is, none has been discovered. When one does, it becomes a nightmare, expanding several-fold and taking on a diminutive, two foot tall, humanoid form, the limbs extended along with the face, the mouth widening as the teeth, especially carnassials, lengthening to deadly proportions. Their eyes will gloss and darken, and the werehuahua will growl, losing any hint of intelligible speech. Any notion of pleasantness that may have existed prior is shattered - the werehuahua attacks immediately knowing nothing of fear or size discrepancy.
If one, however, can encounter a docile werehuahua, they discover the breed is quite friendly, communicative (they speak through a series of yips and barks, a language seemingly derived from gnolls) and very playful. Werehuahua enjoy all canine activities, and are quite capable of learning tricks and performing - there are rumors of a powerful magician who has a trope of traveling acrobatic werehuahua.
Combat: Ordinarily, a werehuahua is content and enjoyable, but this tends to be in short bursts for werehuahua are unpredictable, rapidly changing to beast. When angered, or in their altered form, a werehuahua is fearless, biting and lashing, usually attacking the face and other soft spots, such as hands or genitalia - any place the werehuahua can reach is a target for their threats and they will not back down until their rage has subdued.
Cute: A werehuahua in its natural form is absolutely adorable, effectively radiating a continual influence and sanctuary spell. This ability has no effect on individuals with a substantial fear or loathing for dogs of any sort.
Rage: Werehuahua are angered (and threatened) readily causing them to enter a berserk state of aggravation, attacking with maddening brutality. Any time the werehuahua has used its shapechange ability it is considered a monster of 4 HD for attack and save purposes.
Shapechange: Able to transform their bodily structure, werehuahua can become a terrible beast that resembles a miniature gnoll (q.v.) When this occurs, any damage previously sustained is healed and the werehuahua gains a +2 improvement to Armor Class but loses their cuteness effect. Furthermore, as natural shapechangers, a werehuahua is immune to polymorph effects unless it wishes to be affected.
Leap: Despite its smallness, a werehuahua is able to cover large distance with its powerful hind legs, jumping up to 15 feet. If this is done as part of an attack, consider it a charge but do not penalize the werehuaha’s Armor Class as normal.
(Scent and Twilightvision are common -- I did not rewrite them as they work as for every monster.)
