[BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
Hi all, I've just finished a draft on a (really) short little adventure in the B-series style of detail. While written for BFRPG, it's also essentially compatible with Labyrinth Lord, Swords & Wizardry, D&D, AD&D, OSRIC and HackMaster. The adventure is written for a map I submitted to the BFRPG website a while back (titled "Secret Fortress of the Red Cult"). Let me know what you think.
Also Chris G., any tips on how to submit this to your website for review?

EDIT: Version 2 (spelling/grammar errors fixed) now uploaded.

Aw come on, I don't bite! Any comments, critiques, trash-talk? I know it's not much, just a super-basic adventure path with a couple of open-ended plot hooks, but your criticism is more than welcome.

This adventure is excellent and rich in flavor. It seems to me, however, that it would lend itself very well to a wider wilderness campaign set in the desert with a number of cult temples (both active and ruined) and warring barbarian factions

I like it. There are a few spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes in the document (but who doesn't make those?) so you might want to print off a copy, read it out loud with a red pen, and make necessary corrections. It is what I do, and is a great tool.
In terms of flavor: WOW. Just WOW. This is a fantastically well made adventure that just screams "Coolness." I like the imagery, the flow of the text, the little flavor inserts (the merchant who prattles on for two days, I already have his voice!).
So in that, I would say "Well done good sir! Well done!"

Nice adventure, plenty of room ,especially in the desert city, for the DM to colour it in with other interesting encounters.

Generic & easily worded. This should drop right into any existing game, if it's near a desert.
Also perfect for a one-nighter when the regular game isn't happening.

Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
Galadrin, In the fortress, there's no kitchen, banquet hall, storeroom, lavatory, armory, or natural water source. You might consider adding some, not necessarily all.
But I really like the module. A very easy drop-in near a desert. I like the dream encounter (reminds me of Ravenloft if you also used Ravenloft II, which we did). You might include the dream spell in an appendix.
You might also include a desert encounter table, for the players who don't go the easy way.

Hey, thanks for the comments everyone! I'll think about doing some more stuff for DF/BFRPG when I have a bit of free time.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier.
Send it via email to my address below. I'll convert it into the "standard" format, either as an Adventure Anthologies piece if it's short or as a stand-alone adventure otherwise, and publish it on the website. Hopefully, we can then get some people to proof it, and some artwork...

I appreciate that the OP was over a year ago, but the file is no longer available via the link..
Is it available elsewhere?

Maybe I'll send a PM to the OP and ask...
Otherwise we have to hope he notices the thread bump.

I've PMed him; no response as yet. But his profile says he's visited recently.
EDIT: The PM has left my outbox, so he's seen it.

I sent him an email too...
Your PM might be more effective as he will know who you are.

Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
Hey guys, sorry for the delay. I'm knee deep in grad school and hardly ever get a chance to visit DF. I'm looking around for the original files to the adventure now, but it is quite possible they are back home on a disc. I'll keep you posted!

Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
Cool, well, if you get a chance I'd love to read your module...
Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
Unfortunately it looks like they are back home on a backup CD. I have only a half-completed in progress version on my laptop. If I'm able to get someone to send me the CD, then I'll be sure to post here.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for a bit longer...
Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
Lo and behold, after how many years, I've stumbled across a single printed version (which I didn't even know existed) of the entire Red Cult dungeon! Is there still any interest in this seeing the light of day? If so, I'll type it all up and make it a PDF again for download.

Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
I wanna see it
Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
One vote is enough for me! I'll see about retyping the whole thing... it might take a while, but it will be good to have it in digital format again. Looking over the module, it certainly is a modest affair, but it is an homage to a lot of simple ideas I really enjoyed in other adventures. There's room for sandboxing, room for expanding the setting into a larger campaign, travel to a distant land, foreshadowing of the big-bad threat and a classic "save the princess" plot. It would make a pretty decent adventure to run for younger players, I think!
There have been a lot of good suggestions in this thread and elsewhere about revising the module, but since it so nearly disappeared forever, I think I'll just retype the original form (grammatical mistakes and all) as is. That said, I certainly direct readers to the excellent advice mentioned above for possible modifications.

If you have a PDF that originated as a word processor document, you should be able to copy and paste out of it.

Solo seems more than happy to take it, but Footprints is also always on the lookout for material to publish. The FP team can edit it and rework any maps and art that needs to be done.

I'm also more than willing to share.
Re: [BFRPG] The Secret Fortress of the Red Cult
That's fine! I will post it here when I am done and Sol and Footprints are more than welcome to use it in any manner. Unfortunately, all I have is a printed copy (with no existing digital file), so the retyping effort is long and arduous. I'm any case, I'll keep you all updated!
