[S&W/D&D] Sky Fishing spell for Flying Ships/Castles

Post by Myrystyr »

I'm toying with a 'flying ships and castles' campaign setting, if it ever got past the rough notes stage it would probably be built using Swords & Wizardry as a base...

Sky [cloud?] Fishing
Level/caster: 1/Trickster [charismatic mage variant]
Range: Self or touch
Duration: 1 Round per level
Area of Effect: Special
Saving Throw: None
This spell requires a fishing pole or line, and can only be cast in the sky. For each round of fishing, the caster is able to catch something - usually fish, enough for one meal, but sometimes junk or other odd items, e.g. a broken wagon wheel, ragged coat, ’keep out’ sign, wine bottle, etc.

High fantasy of the 'high in the sky' variety, swashbuckling & whimsy

Or do I stick to sketching one-page dungeon modules for my starting-any-decade-now campaign? Thoughts and comments welcome.
"Homo sapiens. What an inventive, invincible species. It's only a few million years since they crawled up out of the mud and learned to walk. Puny, defenceless bipeds. They've survived flood, famine and plague. They've survived cosmic wars and holocausts. And now, here they are, out among the stars, waiting to begin a new life. Ready to outsit eternity. They're indomitable. Indomitable." (Doctor Who: The Ark In Space)
