Nice take on the classes! What about the setting itself?

I figured I'd set the foundations of the major changes and then do the explaining.

I love the dwarf racial class. My Itar dwarves are different but not that much. Very nice work.

I figured the dwarfs of AD&D were always fighters, thieves, or clerics... or a combination of the three, so I just decided to make them somewhat like that, with a bit of a paladin-like spin, as they are more "divine" in my world, having great reverence for their ancestors and so forth. The traditional pantheon for dwarfs is obliterated, though, replaced with... well, ancestor worship.

I'm glad people like the changes, as I wasn't sure if they were interesting to anyone but me.

Oh, and the references to things like "tattoo magic" are to the files that used to be available on my website. I'll probably be posting them when I get to that section.

Mine were just changed slightly. Lessening the eleven animosity and making them dwell above ground an making them farmers and stonemasons. There are many dwarven rangers as well and they have had several marrages among humans.

This is based on what happened to the dwarven kingdoms during the cataclysim.

I like this idea very much. I will borrow it, and add this: Dwarforged, who are occasional ancestors' spirits bound in animated statues (that is: Eberron warforged, but dwarf only). These would be paladin-like, coming back to the normal world in times of need or to perform some important task, such as guarding a temple or what not.

For that, I'd just use stone golems, but I prefer to not create when I can just modify. :)

Also, the elf is up.

Gnomes are one of my favorite races... 3E ruined them, 1E was good though... my favorites were always the Tinker, Forest or Deep type gnome, standard 1E my fav.

You're take is interesting... Sort of Svirfneblin like (deep gnome) for the earth abilities, but give the options for Smith/Tinker type, Wood/Nature Type, and Mystic type... no Illusion type?

The caps are interestingly funny (in a good way).

I think though they need greater Hit Dice, a d6 for sure. Especially for the Red Caps.

The gnome is going to undergo some revision. I'm thinking of having an illusory kind, sort of wispy, maybe. Not sure. Don't see them as really fey-kin, but more "elemental" than that. They are mostly inspired directly from mythology rather than how they've been in D&D beforem though some elements creep in anyway (cause D&D borrowed, too.)

The major thing I'll be re-working is the "treasure hound" ability as I think it might be a tad over-the-top... but, it was created in coffee-induced boredom at a job where I get paid to twiddle my thumbs. Blame the bean, man. The bean.

Haha, how do you think I can write 5 pages of house rules, re-write my own equipment lists, and reply to this forum and the trolllord forum every couple hours ;)

Hehe. Oh, if I had a PC at my current assignment, I'd be cranking out everything from AAA club membership cards (dwarfs only) to ZZZ sleeping pills for unwholesome elf-kind. :)

Anyway, I do hope people are finding some use with the changes, even if not wholesale.

Finally finished the halfling entry. Have the next two done, on paper, but have to get the time to post them.

"The Doldrums?" Ever read "The Phantom Tollbooth" by Norman Juster? Kid's book, but a great read anyway. Got any "Lethargians" in the world who just lay about and do nothing all day?

Never read a book by that title, though I do think the word "doldrum" is neat. As for "lethargians," they'd be the halflings... but since I haven't gotten to putting the fluff stuff (ie, the non-mechanical changes), that's not something I'd just expect people to know.

Never read it? What the hell are they teaching kids these days? Along with films like "The Point" and books like "James & The Giant Peach," or "Harold and his Purple Crayon," "The Phantom Tollbooth" is a classic of drug inspired fantasy masquerading as children's literature that has been warping young minds at their most malleable for decades! Your education is incomplete without it!

I had other inspirations for my warping, actually. Authors like Lovecraft, Poe, and Doyle. Fantasy fiction has never appealed to me, so I have avoided it, with one exception: the Sanctuary anthology. The rest I can, and will, do without. And yes, I know that makes me a heretic, but I'd rather think my ideas are original than to feel as if I'm ripping someone off because I read about it twenty years ago.

Anyway...

I figure the final two racial classes will be available by the weekend. Then, I'll probably post the "fluff" to them.
