More artwork is not planned at the moment; however, note that this is the 1st Edition. In a year or so, after the game has made some money (I hope), I may put together a 2nd Edition with updated interior artwork etc. as well as fixes for any problems found between now and then.

Does that mean you will release the first edition as PDF only, followed by print and PDF for the second edition with all errata and additional artwork incorporated? It's what I did with BLUEHOLME™ Prentice Rules, and I''m glad I did.

Re: artwork, would you consider inserting some public domain filler art? I know it's a bit of a pain sourcing appropriate examples, but there are now quite a few repositories and I for one actually rather get a buzz out of finding just the right piece.

Heh. The PDF is already out there. I'll be going to print probably this week.

I'm comfortable with going forward now. Sure, there are probably some errors, but heck, we found errors in the 2nd Edition of BFRPG when we were putting together the 3rd. Didn't really hurt us in the long run.

I have done some, as you have seen; however, for me, finding just the right piece is proving rather hard. I don't like to use the same piece in more than one work, and BFRPG and Realms of Wonder both contain a lot of nice pieces.

Actually, the mostly-text format really looks nice and clean to me. The only large blank that actually bothers me is just before Dragons.

I am more than happy to buy a print of 1st edition and plan to order one the moment they are available. Missed out on buying a 1st edition of Basic Fantasy (they are quite the collectors item) and don't want to miss this one. :D

The game is live on Lulu.com here: http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/chrisgonnerman ! The game should be up on Amazon.com in the next day or so.

I just received the proof copy I ordered last week, which was R48 rather than the R49 that I just activated. I pulled it out of the box and marveled at the beautiful reproduction of Al Cook's cover art; then I held it up for my wife to admire. This put the back toward me, and I immediately saw an error.

Gah.

So I fixed up the back cover, uploaded new cover designs, and made it live. Since I'm trying to make my projects pay for themselves, I won't be able to order a hardback for myself until I make some sales. (I used proceeds from the RPG Primer to pay for the paperback.)

Anyway... thanks to everyone who offered advice on this project (even the complaints), and special thanks to Al Cook for the cover art and James Lemon for proofreading!

If you plan to order a copy from Lulu, please note there's a 30% off sale through tomorrow:

"Today through April 12, you can get 30% off all print books with code APRIL30."

Remember to capitalize the code... they're silly that way.

Hey, really loving Iron Falcon. It's become my favorite retroclone. It's also one of the most error free retroclones I've read. I only found one text error in the whole book on page 114 under Figurines of Wondrous Power - Marble Elephant:

"It has Armor Class 4, 8 Hit Dice, moves a a 12" rate..."

Should it be "moves at a 12" rate..."?

Anyway sorry if this has already been mentioned, Loving the book. Looking to future editions.

I downloaded the PDF and am reading it, which is good so far. I had to read the Listening at doors 2 times while also looking at the hear noise rolls for thieves. Then it clicked it could just be me being slow as that happens. Good job so far though.

As for any errors they just prove you have enough of a life with family and friends keeping you away from making the perfect book :). I will say it again I like what I am reading, and I hope it makes it to amazon.ca so I can order it and not get my backside hurt from shipping costs for a softcover hardcopy version, so I can step away from a PC to read it.

Glad you like it, Jacqual. I'm about to update the adventure module, Dungeon of Kyros, to the new combined Iron Falcon Adventures One which includes that dungeon plus the Dragon of Duncaster adventure Longman and I wrote for my convention appearance in July. Just in case you need some material to use with Iron Falcon, or about any other period-appropriate game or clone thereof.

looking over the game itself with a little more time (I still like it BTW) I noticed you left the Shortsword out, was that intentional or an oversight?

I know it is easy enough to add one as the baseline damages from weapons are very close to another source of gaming goodness. I was just wondering myself on the part of the Shortsword, as I do not have any really old copies of a certain fantasy game that has a large fanbase.

That information was not included in the material you describe.

Just wanted to announce that, in addition to Lulu.com, CreateSpace.com, and Amazon.com, Iron Falcon is now available in hardcover and softcover at RPGNow.com (aka DriveThruRPG.com, aka OneBookShelf)!

So I'm creating pregen characters for Quincon, and I'm planning to use the Extended Spellbook Interpretation. That makes rolling the spells a bit of a chore, even for characters who only have 1st and 2nd level spells; so to make things easier, I created an online tool. Besides the spellbook generator, I also put my die roller on the page for convenience. You can find them both here:
