Was the punchline something like: "The Parks & Recreation Ecology Robots had to come along and clean it up!"

Let's see

1) I'm working on a modern day spy thriller novel.
2) I'm about to go to a wonderful private convention next weekend called Ken Con that's invintation only and I'm one of the invites.
3) I just started being managing editor for Troll Lords Crusader magazine. I'm helping with issue 8 and will be doing 9 and on. It's a bimonthly magazine that we want to take monthly.
4) I just finished a great playtest of a Troll Lords card game.
5) and with all that I can still barely pay my bills, I clearly need to work harder.

sigh

Hey old friend, are you in any way responsible for the Beast of Bray Road, the famous Werewolf of Wisconsin, the sighting of which occurred in your veritable back yard in or near Elkhorn?

Or might it have been conjured up by one of Gary's misfire spells instead of your own (despite its appearance less than a mile from your door, and more than 8 miles from his)?

And are you wary of going out at night, lest the werewolf strike again?

As the Beast of Bray Road--that artery named after Jim's wife's family--has not actually harmed anyone, how can anyone suggest I am responsible?

Apparently if Gary were responsible for this lycanthropic legerdemain, there would be carnage galore. He obviously agrees that Jim is the culprit...

Dungeon Master James, in your TSR first edition ADandD rpg Deities & Demigods or Legends & Lore rulebooks, the beginning part such as the preface, foreword, or|and introduction has it printed that the cleric is a prominent member of society and is more socially outgoing than the reclusive thief and magic-user classes. For the TSR ADandD first edition role-playing game, is there any PC cleric or NPC henchman cleric that can be reclusive? I'm guessing it depends with what deity and religion the cleric adheres to?

Blue Light,

I don't understand your question. Any player can make any character reclusive. What are you getting at?

That Beast of Bray Road thing was a terrible trial for my inlaws. When it first came out there were a bunch of fools that thought it would be worth hunting in the light of the full moon. One idiot hunter had his rifle shot out of his hands by another hunter.

Cows were wounded, barns had holes blown in them, hunters didn't want to leave the property and the police had to be called.

To this day, after three books, a terrible movie, and lots of onsight interviews there is not proof of any creature.

They only thing that was proven is that hunters can really be idiots.

Is there any way you can give us a little more info on this novel? Not plot or characters or anything (I don't want you to worry about someone stealing your ideas) but rather if it'd been accepted for publication, by whom and if you have any idea of a publication date.

Also, congrats and good luck on the position at Troll Lords!

Chris,
Sure I can and thanks for asking.

It's set in the year 2015. NSA agents are dealing with a Saudi terrorist who is extremely clever. In the beginning the terrorist does things that are almost amusing. He paints the statue of liberty's face red. He surrounds an American missile base with oil and burns it. Later he gets much more deadly. The main characters aren't assigned to find him. They are assigned to find something intirely different, but the terrorist get's involved in looking for the same thing the NSA agents look for.

A newly forming computer company likes the idea of doing novels with their computer games to help promote the game. I was able to talk them into letting me write the novels. I'll tell you more when they come out with some press releases.

Jim, that sounds like a great plot (and I'm no mystery/thriller maven :) ). Please keep us updated as the publication date approaches!

Hey Thoth. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I wanted to double check, but apparently there is no way to move post from thread to thread directly. Anyway, I'm glad you went ahead and re-posted.

Thanks for your answer, James. That's Right! I didn't think about that. A PC cleric or a henchman cleric can be more reclusive than any nonadventuring cleric. In short or in general, any adventuring cleric can be 50% reclusive and 50% social.

Jim,

Offbeat question here but were you the one that worked with SSI back in the day for the "Goldbox games"?

I had the distinct pleasure of working with SSI on their AD&D games. I found them extremely capable of knowldgeable about the TSR license. I would work with any of those skilled fellows again.

If anyone is listening I have a goal to work on an online game of some type.

I really liked the way you said that. This is a desire on my part to be in on something huge. The online multiplayer game is the next big thing. If I had the best possible world I would use my METAMORPHOSIS ALPHA RPG and we would make different types of lost colonization ships for players to roam in and explore.

YES!!!

The world truly NEEDS an "old-school" MMORPG! 8)

Even though I probably would never play it, not liking on-line game-playing at all.

On line gaming needs a dose of real gaming perspective. When I say real gaming perspective, I mean something that can truly capture a gamer's interest. Currently, as well developed as MMOs are, they reward time invested more than anything else. Sun Tzu would never play an MMO.

We need an MMO that truly captures gaming. Whether it be OD&D or Gamma World or Arduin...the gaming community needs to take a breath and understand it's own roots.

That sounds like it would make a great RPG, single-player or MMORPG!
